MARLBORO — Maintenance work was expected to begin this week on portions of Route 79 and Route 18 during the overnight hours.
Both of those roads are state highways.
The state Department of Transportation was planning to begin milling and paving portions of the highways that are in Marlboro. The work was expected to begin on Aug. 31.
On Route 18 the portion that will receive maintenance work is in the northbound lanes and the southbound lanes near mile marker 26.6.
On Route 79 the resurfacing work will take place on both sides of the highway between Beacon Hill Road and Wilson Avenue.
Depending on the weather conditions, the work was estimated to be completed within one to two days.
A DOT spokesman said the paving was to begin at 10 p.m. and run until about 6 a.m. Those hours were selected in order to have the least amount of impact on traffic during peak hours.
