The second floor of a two-story Colonial house owned by Charles and Carolyn Musso at the 2327 Pennington Road, Hopewell Township, sustained fire, smoke and water damage on Aug. 27.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but does not appear to be suspicious in nature, said township police Lt. Lance Maloney.
The owners were not at home when the fire broke out, at 10:55 a.m.
Their son, Charles Musso Jr., 23, was home and saw smoke coming from the upstairs hallway. He called 9-1-1 and went outdoors, police said.
First responders saw flame and smoke coming from a second-floor room identified as the computer room.
Additional fire personnel and equipment arrived and the fire was extinguished before spreading to adjacent rooms.
Smoke and water damage was limited to the second floor.
All three Hopewell Valley firefighting units responded. They are the Pennington Fire Company, Hopewell Fire Department and Union Fire Company, which is based in Titusville.
Units from Lawrence, Ewing and Upper Makefield, Pa., also responded.
The fire is being investigated by the Hopewell Township Police Department, the Hopewell Valley Bureau of Fire Safety, Mercer County fire marshal and Mercer County prosecutor’s office.
