The Historical Society of Ocean Grove is preparing for its 12th annual Antiques and CollectiblesAuction slated for Sept. 4 at the Ocean Grove Youth Temple facing Auditorium Square Park. The annual event, one of many special events presented each year by the Historical Society of Ocean Grove, serves as an important fundraiser to benefit and support the programs and ongoing research projects of the historical society.
The auction is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. with a preview beginning at 3 p.m. There will be a 10-percent buyer premium. The Youth Temple is air-conditioned, handicap accessible, and food will be available for purchase.
This auction of approximately 300 lots will provide a wide array of quality antiques and collectibles, and include Jersey Shore memorabilia from local towns, including rare Ocean Grove and Asbury Park items. An itemized list is currently available at the Historical Society Museum, 50 Pitman Ave., Ocean Grove, at a cost of $3.
Auction items include Washington banjo clock, Roseville, linens, textiles, vintage children’s books, Nuttings, pottery, dolls, baseball collectibles, jewelry, tobacco silks, set of tobacco bathing girl cards, Galli-Curci item, cane seat chairs, 19th-century glassware, Nippon, Lenox.
Also, Christmas items, doll high chair, child’s antique wicker rocker, paintings, antique quilts, Bessie Pease Gutman print, vintage furniture, mirrors, vintage clothing, corner shelves, Ocean Grove “No Parking Sunday” sign, and lots of Asbury Park and Ocean Grove collectible memorabilia including early souvenir china, ruby flashed glass, sterling spoons, pennants, and other Jersey Shore items.
