West Windsor, N.J. — The Latina Women’s Council of Mercer County has presented six $1,000 scholarships to incoming Mercer County Community College students. Pictured at a ceremony on August 27, from left, back row, are East Windsor Councilman Walt Daniels, scholarship recipients Jonathan Garcia, Rosanna Zee Serpa, Johanna Quezada, and Janelsey Lopez, Council Secretary Esther Velesquez, scholarship recipient Marielena Santiago, Council President Nilda Garcia, and council member Paul Byrn. In the front row are Council member Ondina Jeffers and Vice President Rose-Angel Rivera. The sixth recipient, not pictured, is Stefani Penafiel.
The Council hosted a variety of fundraising events to raise scholarship dollars, including a Trenton Thunder game and a Women’s History Month breakfast.
