Princeton Borough
Robert N. McPherson, 28, of Hamilton Township, was arrested for trespassing after police received a call from a resident of 63 Clay St. at 12 p.m. on Aug. 28, police said.
Jason Guarracino, 31, of Hamilton Township, was arrested in connection to a $165 warrant out of Princeton Borough at 5:40 p.m. on Aug. 28, police said. Mr. Guarracino turned himself in.
Christopher Nord, 46, of Lawrence Township, was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Route 206 at 12:25 a.m. on Aug. 29, police said. Police said Mr. Nord was blocking traffic with his vehicle. Police also discovered that Mr. Nord had active warrants from Lawrence and Trenton.
Michael Earl, 26, of North Brunswick was charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Harrison Street at 1:50 a.m. on Aug. 29, according to police, who said they stopped Mr. Earl for making an improper right turn.
Daniel Greenberg, 23, of Moore Street, was charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on University Place at 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 29, police said. Mr. Greenberg was initially stopped for having a broken headlight.
Pedro Santana, 27, of Trenton, was arrested by State Police and turned over to the Princeton Borough police at 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 29 in connection with a $150 warrant out of the borough Municipal Court.
David Hutchinson, 29, of Trenton, was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Nassau Street at 12:50 a.m. on Aug. 30, according to police. Mr. Hutchinson was initially stopped after a records search revealed a suspended driver’s license.
Aaron Levy, 28, of Markham Road, was arrested after a records search revealed a $165 warrant out Montgomery Township at 11 p.m. on Aug. 30, police said. Police initially encountered Mr. Levy in connection with a parking complaint.
Emanuel Marino, 20, of Hightstown, was charged with simple assault and possession of fictitious government documents after police received a report of a male striking a female in the University Medical Center at Princeton at 4 a.m. on Aug. 31, according to a police report.
Alija Verlasevic, 40, of Billie Ellis Lane, was charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop in a Nassau Street parking lot at 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 30, police said. Ms. Verlasevic was initially stopped for making an improper right turn.
Grant E. Wadley, 34, of Mercer Street, was arrested after a records search revealed a $250 warrant out of Princeton Borough Municipal Court during a traffic stop on Nassau Street at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said. Mr. Wadley was initially stopped for making an improper turn.
Princeton Township
Two female McCaffrey’s employees were arrested after they tried to steal $60 worth of food and toiletry items from the Harrison Street grocery store at 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 27, police said. Yan Yan Ma, 39, of Philadelphia, and You Duo Zhen, 63, of Levittown, Pa., were charged with shoplifting after an investigation revealed a plan to remove the items from the store after the store closed.
Tony L. Harris, 46, of Trenton, was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, and driving an unregistered vehicle after he overturned his 2005 GMC truck on Cherry Hill Road at 11:20 p.m. on Aug. 27, police said. Police, who responded to a report of a car crash, said Mr. Harris told them that a deer caused him to swerve and lose control of his truck. Police later noticed the smell of alcohol on Mr. Harris and conducted sobriety tests.
York Poncedeleon-Huill, 27, of New Brunswick, was arrested after a records search revealed $850 in warrants out of New Brunswick during a traffic stop on Route 27 at 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 30, police said.
West Windsor
A resident of Washington Road reported a propane tank, valued at $130, stolen from an unlocked rear screened-in porch. The incident occurred sometime between Aug. 26 and Sept. 1 at the victim’s residence.
Montgomery
Ryman Marshall, 31, of Trenton, was arrested Aug. 31 on an outstanding warrant issued by the Trenton Municipal Court. He was pulled over on Route 206 for driving a vehicle registered in New Jersey that was displaying a Pennsylvania inspection detail, police said. It was later discovered that his New Jersey driver’s license was suspended and that he had the outstanding warrant for $243.
He was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he posted bail and was released. He also was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended and failure to have his vehicle inspected.
A resident of Dominicus Court reported a car theft that occurred at 2 p.m. Aug. 29.
The victim, Jaclyn Quinones, 34, reported to police that she left her parked car running outside her Pike Run apartment while she unloaded groceries. When she returned to where the car had been parked, it was gone, according to the report.
Police checked the area for the vehicle, and it was discovered that the vehicle had been in a hit-and-run accident on Route 206 near Mountainview Road in Hillsborough. The driver of the stolen car crashed into a utility pole and then fled the area on foot, police said.
The heavily damaged vehicle was towed from the crash scene, police said. The incident is under investigation.
The intersection of county routes 601 and 602 was closed for several hours on Aug. 21 for the repair of arching power lines and a gas line fire, police said.
A strong storm is believed to have caused the power lines to become detached and ignite the gas line fire, police said. The issue was resolved by PSE&G.
Plainsboro
Jayne Alkalay, 38, of Cranbury, has been charged with burglary and theft of prescription blanks from a doctor’s office where she was formerly an employee, police said.
Police said they were called to the Delaware Valley OBGYN to investigate the theft. The office had been alerted to the theft by a pharmacy in East Windsor that had filled a prescription but upon review had become suspicious of its origin, police said. Several other attempts were made at pharmacies throughout East Windsor, police said.
Investigation by Plainsboro and East Windsor police determined that Ms. Alkalay had stolen the prescription blanks on a visit to the office and had obtained Percocet several times by fraud, and enlisted the help of others to obtain Percocet, police said.
She also faces charges issued by the East Windsor police of uttering a forged prescription, obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud, and forgery.
Police received a report Aug. 31 that the debit card information of a Hampshire Drive resident was used to make a fraudulent purchase for $1,000.
Sumni Park, 22, of Hampshire Drive, was charged with driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop Friday at the intersection of Dey Road and Scotts Corner Road.
After she was pulled over at 3 a.m. for failing to observe a traffic signal, Ms. Park was found to be intoxicated, police said. She was arrested and faces additional charges of reckless driving, failure to observe a traffic signal and maintenance of lamps, police said. She was released pending a court date.
Police are investigating a case of arson that occurred Thursday on Van Doren Street.
At about 5 p.m., police responded to a small brush fire near the construction trailer for the new Plainsboro Library. The fire was extinguished by the township Fire Department.
The fire was ignited using matchbooks, sticks and paper, according to police. It caused minor damage to the landscaping and no injuries were reported, police said.
A resident of Sayre Drive reported a case of credit card fraud on Thursday. The victim’s credit card was fraudulently charged $360, he reported to police. The case is under investigation.
Three township residents face charges after police responded to a large underage drinking party last week on Deer Creek Drive.
Police arrived at about midnight Tuesday in response to a noise complaint at an apartment. A total of 17 township ordinance violations for underage consumption of alcohol and the confiscation of two beer kegs were issued, police said. A large glass bong and other drug paraphernalia also was discovered in the apartment, police said.
While conducting the lengthy investigation, Justin Kaplan, 19, of Tamarron Drive, became uncooperative and obstructed the investigation, police said. After he did not respond to several requests to cooperate, he was arrested and later charged with obstruction of justice, police said.
The parents of the juveniles at the party were contacted and asked to pick up their children, police said. Two residents of the apartment, David Weiss, 20, and Matthew Murphy, 20, were issued summonses for providing a place for minors to consume alcohol and for violation of the local noise ordinance, police said. Mr. Murphy also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Reina Schuman, 42, of South Plainfield, was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana under 50 grams after a traffic stop Aug. 31 on northbound Route 1.
A red BMW was pulled over at about 1 a.m. for going 100 mph, police said. Field sobriety tests revealed that the driver, Ms. Schuman, was driving while intoxicated, police said. Officers on the scene also observed a burnt marijuana cigarette lying on the driver’s seat and open containers of alcohol on the floor, police said.
She was arrested and issued additional summonses for speeding, reckless driving, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said.
Andres Ortiz, 44, of North Brunswick, was charged with driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop Aug. 30 on northbound Route 1.
Mr. Ortiz was pulled over after police observed his yellow Nissan traveling 73 mph in a 55-mph zone, police said. During the stop, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, police said. Mr. Ortiz was arrested after he failed field sobriety tests, police said. He also was issued motor vehicle summonses for speeding, reckless driving, obstructed windshield and unclear plates.
A resident of Hunters Glen Drive reported that the passenger side of a parked vehicle was scratched between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 29 and 8 the next morning. The incident occurred in the parking lot of building 31 on Hunters Glen Drive.
The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory reported a burglary/theft last week that occurred between Aug. 19 and Aug. 2. According to the report, two sets of red brass coils were stolen from the gas dynamics laboratory. The total loss is estimated at $50,000.
