Swim team recognized

The Rapids Swim Team achieved a record of 9-1 this season, and took first place during the championship event Aug. 1 at the North Brunswick Township High School pool.

Team coordinator Elizabeth Yarus said the group of boys and girls age 7 to 18 attended 7:30 a.m. practices and competed twice a week throughout the summer, and their hard work showed in both their individual and team accomplishments.

“The true philosophy of recreation is that everyone is a winner just by being part of a team,” DPRCS Director Lou Ann Benson said.

“Winning isn’t what it’s really about; it’s about doing well and competing against yourself and being a better swimmer,” Yarus said.
