Hillsborough resident Peter G. Schoberl joined the Raritan Valley Community College Board of Trustees, following its Sept. 29 meeting, the school announced.
In addition to Mr. Schoberl, the board added Kate R. Whitman of Peapack and new Hunterdon Executive County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gerald J. Vernotica of Long Valley.
”As a former chairman of the RVCC Foundation, Peter Schoberl is well-acquainted with the college and we are delighted to have him assume a policy-making role,” Dr. Casey Crabill, RVCC president said. “His expertise in finance will be a great benefit to the Board of Trustees.”
Mr. Schoberl serves as chairman, president and CEO of Community First Bank. He previously served as executive vice president/market executive for Sun National Bank and was president/CEO of Advantage Bank and a member of its board of directors.
His career in banking has included serving in leadership roles for a variety of institutions, including First Community Bank (executive vice president/senior loan officer/member of the board of directors); American Union Bank (senior vice president/senior loan officer); United Jersey Bank/First Colonia (vice president/senior loan officer/compliance officer); and United Jersey/Franklin State (vice president/commercial lending officer/team leader).
In addition to the RVCC Foundation, Mr. Schoberl has been active with a number of community groups, serving on the board of St. Peter’s University Hospital, as finance committee chairman of St. Peter’s Foundation Board, as chairman of St. Peter’s Health & Management Board and as past president of Community Bankers Association.
