The Little Silver Business and Professional Association (LSBPA) will host a “Share Your Story” book fair on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the firehouse on Prospect Avenue.
The fundraising effort is being planned to assist underwriting the cost of decorative banners the association has designed to adorn the town’s lampposts as well as a percentage donated to miscellaneous charitable initiatives in the borough.
The gently used and like-new books, DVDs, VHS tapes, video games, and CDs offer the opportunity for area residents to refresh their collections. Books will be priced between $1 and $2 each and digital media under $5, according to a press release from the business partnership.
Members of Little Silver Boy Scout Troop 126 will be taking orders for their annual popcorn sale, and Little Silver Girl Scout Troop 1819 who will host a community bake sale.
Beginning Friday, Oct. 9, books can be dropped off at various businesses during regular hours of operation, including The Turning Point, The Woman’s Exchange, Byford & Mills, Healthy Glow, Armstrong Agency, Ye Olde Pie Shoppe, Sovereign Bank, Wells Fargo Mortgage Co. in Red Bank, Wachovia Bank, Two River Orthodontics, Van Winkle Associates in Tinton Falls, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in Shrewsbury and Point Road and Markham Place schools in Little Silver.
A designated trailer donated by Little Silver business Merrick Construction will also be collecting donations Friday, Oct. 9, through Friday, Oct. 16, between the hours of 5 and 6 p.m. in the parking lot adjacent to the Little Silver Firehouse.
