Politicians need to have better understanding of health insurance

We should all do the math! How does the entire insurance industry know that their costs are going to go up 79 percent by 2019 or 111 percent if the health care bill is passed? Do you have a crystal ball that says you will be earning 79 percent more by 2019 in order to pay for this hypothetical increase in insurance costs?

Many of us have either lost our jobs or have taken steep pay cuts just to keep the jobs that we have now, yet we still pay exorbitant insurance costs if we are employed in the private sector.

I think that rather than go along with the insurance industry’s scare tactics, the government should outlaw an increase in rates and cause decreases by making the insurance companies reduce the salaries of the executive level employees to a reasonable level, not the tens of millions of dollars that they earn; force them to make certain that they pay the doctors fairly and on time so as to expand the list of participating doctors.

We need to get costs in line with the ability to pay. We cannot become debtors to the insurance companies’ zeal for profits. Our politicians need to get a better handle on the real world, not the insulated world that they live in.
