Veterans who have served on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001, can learn about the benefits of the Post-9/11 GI Bill at Ocean County College’s Veterans Open House, scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 4 at Ocean County College (OCC), College Drive, Toms River. Admission is free.
The open house will feature information on OCC admissions and financial aid, and a college representative will discuss the Post- 9/11 GI Bill, an education benefit program that was signed into law in July 2008. The Bill provides education benefits for service members with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after Sept. 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days.
Educational opportunities under the Post-9/11 GI Bill include graduate and undergraduate degrees, as well as vocational/ technical training, offered by an institution of higher learning and approved for GI Bill benefits. Tutorial assistance and certification test reimbursement are also approved under this Bill.
Members of the OCC Veterans Club, part of a national veterans fraternity, will be in attendance at the open house.
