JACKSON — A joint effort between multiple law enforcement agencies resulted in the Oct. 30 arrest of a man who was a suspect in a northern New Jersey homicide.
Jackson police received information from authorities in Essex County that the suspect, Antoine Williams, 22, was believed to be somewhere in the Six Flags Great Adventure theme park, Route 537, at about 11:55 p.m. Oct. 30.
“We received information from a detective with the Orange Police Department,” said Jackson police Uniform Service Commander Capt. David Newman. “The information indicated this individual was believed to be at Great Adventure.”
Newman said officers were provided with a description of the vehicle that Williams was believed to be using. The officers found the vehicle in the Great Adventure parking lot and tactically disabled it, the captain said.
The vehicle was kept under surveillance until Williams arrived back at the vehicle.
“Detective Lt. John Siedler coordinated the response of Jackson police, the New Jersey State Police, Northern Ocean County Regional SWAT and the Orange Police Department. That response culminated in the arrest of the suspect without incident,” said Newman.
Williams was wanted in connection with the Oct. 17 murder of a man in Orange. Police said no bail was set for Williams, who was turned over to the Orange police.
At no time were Great Adventure patrons placed in any risk, according to police.
