New Massage Therapy Practice Aims to Keep You In Balance

By Bryna Elder-Munro, NCTMB
LAMBERTVILLE—When the body is balanced, it can better handle stress, pain and all that life throws its way.
That’s why Bryna Elder-Munro, NCTMB, has now opened In Balance Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork in the Canal Studios building on North Union Street. From the gentlest techniques for cancer patients to the deep-tissue massage favored by athletes, Elder-Munro customizes every session to best meet the needs of each client.
“I don’t believe in a cookie-cutter approach to massage and bodywork,” explained Elder-Munro. “Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and as an individual.”
“Some days, a person needs rapid relief from a migraine or tension headache. Other times, you crave a full-body massage for relaxation. And sometimes, you need targeted muscle work on your neck, shoulders and back. I listen to what you tell me and create a session just for you on that day,” she said.
A resident of Raritan Township, Elder-Munro is a nationally certified massage therapist and holds dual certification in oncology massage and massage for mastectomy and breast surgery. A graduate of Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy, Elder-Munro received advanced post-graduate training in cancer massage with Cheryl Chapman, RN, HRN, NCTMB, an early innovator in cancer massage. Elder-Munro also has advanced post-graduate training in the gentle-but-profound CranioSacral Therapy through Upledger Institute and is a Usui Reiki Master Practitioner.
“The best part about massage is it just feels wonderful. And isn’t it time to feel good?” she added.
In Balance offers traditional Swedish massage, deep-tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy in addition to cancer massage, CranioSacral therapy and Reiki. Appointment lengths range from the 15-minute, energizing chair massage to 90-minute sessions. Elder-Munro noted that In Balance gift certificates are a hot item. “Give the gift everyone wants. No returns necessary!”
Elder-Munro is available to speak free of charge to organizations and groups about the benefits of massage.
