Head Coach: Jonathan Stone, 10th year
Last year: 13-14, Mid-Atlantic Prep League champions
Key returners: Ryan Adams (Sr.), DeOliver Davis (Sr.), Connor Kirdzik (Sr.), Rob Michel (Sr.), Myles Melville (So.).
Top newcomers: Tyler Melville (PG), Drew Wilkins (Sr.), Pendarvis Williams (Sr.), Lou Adesida (Jr.), Grant Fiorentinos.(Jr.), Will Wise (Jr.)
Coach’s Thoughts: We’ve got a strong group of new players. We are rebuilding a bit, but as long as they stick together and play as a team, it will be more positive.
Princeton Day boys
Head Coach: Paris McLean, third year
Last year: 4-20
Key returners: Cody Exter (Sr.) Kenny Holzhammer (Sr.), Evan Quinn (Sr.), Chris Bonnaig (Jr.), AJ Rubin (Jr.), Robbie Smukler (Jr.),
Top newcomers: Ian Crowell (Sr.), Adam Oresky (Sr.), Nate Apgar (Jr.), Kevin Francfort (Jr.), Bryan Minor (Jr.), Justin Ward (Jr.), Jordan Page (So.), Dylan Quigly (So.), Davon Reed (Fr.)Coach’s Thoughts: We’re really excited about the season and the group of guys that we have. Our schedule in December is real tough. But I think it will help prepare us for the season when we get into January and February. We want to bounce back from last season and really commit ourselves to improving and getting better as a team. We’ve added some talented players, including Davon (Reed) at point guard.
Hun girls
Head Coach: Bill Holup, 11th year
Last year: 19-7
Key returners: Lexee Liaskos (Sr.), Onyx Mintah (Sr.), Lauren Shockley (Sr.), Nicole Campellone (So.).
Top newcomers: Jacquel Saunders (PG), Ashton Dwyer (Jr.), Caitlin McMannimon (So.), Kate Sullivan (Fr.), Kate Weeks (Fr.), Rikiyah White (Fr.).
Coach’s Thoughts: We’ve got a strong guard, a strong inside player and a couple of nice perimeter players who will complement each other nicely. We also have some new freshmen who have to learn the system and what it’s like to compete at a high level. We graduated five players from last year’s team and all five of them are playing college basketball, including two at Division I which is nice. We are rebuilding a bit, but as long as they stick together and play as a team, it will be more positive.
Princeton Day girls
Head Coach: Jessica Katz, third year
Last year: 9-8
Key returners: Marissa Davila (Sr.), Dani Dawkins (Sr.), Raquel Phillips (Sr.), Tiffany Patterson (Jr.), Sarah Godwin (So.), Janie Smukler (So.).
Top newcomers: Lauren Johnson (Fr.), Hannah Levy (Fr.).
Coach’s Thoughts: With the exception of one senior and one girl who went off to public school, we have the same group of girls. As a result, we have pretty much the same starting five. We have a year under our belts. We have Janie with a year of experience running the point, which is hard to do coming in as a freshman. The girls are recognizing each other’s strengths and finding each other on the floor. And there’s good movement on the floor. It’s the same team with a few additions, so they have that confidence in each other. I think we’ll be a hard team to guard. We have shooters and good players inside. They’re figuring out how too capitalize on that talent.
Stuart
Head Coach: Tony Bowman, sixth year
Last year: 15-10
Key returners: Diamond Lewis (Sr.), Sarah Schulte (Sr.), Julianne Carson (Jr.), Paris Branker (So.), Jen Diaz (So.), Angela Gallagher (So.), Margo Schmiderer (So.).
Top newcomers: Summer Burrough (Fr.), Kate O’Brien (Fr.).
Coach’s Thoughts: We expect to play great defense and let Diamond control most of the offense and let it go through her and Sarah Schulte. We have to have great defense because we’re losing two of our top players. Amber (Bowman) averaged 17 last year. Jasmine (Smarr) averaged around 8, so I’m losing 25 points that I’m used to getting. We need people to fill in the blanks. Paris Branker, Jen Diaz, Angela Gallagher and Julianne Carson will be the individuals that have to make up the points. Katie O’Brien is a 5-foot-10 freshman who will do some good things for us later in the season.
