The New Hope Borough Recycling Committee will sponsor its second annual campaign to recycle Christmas trees, according to Chairman Dee Dee Bowman.
The tree collection, scheduled for Jan. 11, is free for all New Hope Borough residents and businesses and will not incur costs for the borough.
”Thanks again to the generosity of Hugh Marshal of Hugh A. Marshall Landscape Contractors, everyone in New Hope will have the opportunity to recycle Christmas trees, rather than have them dumped in landfills,” noted Ms. Bowman.
The trees collected in New Hope Borough will be chipped and used for mulch.
Ms. Bowman said: “Simply put your tree out at the curb on Sunday night (Jan. 10) or early Monday morning (Jan. 11). Hugh Marshall and his crew will visit all the streets in town to pick up the trees.
”We also have created an e-mail address – [email protected] – so people can tell us they are going to put their trees out. This will help us to know how many workers we’ll need. In addition, the Recycling Committee has arranged a drop-off site for those who would like to get rid of their trees earlier or later than the Jan. 11 pick-up date.
”Again this year the Village II Community Association has offered a corner of the pool complex parking lot for drop-offs,” Ms. Bowman added.
New Hope residents should take trees to the corner adjacent to the Village II dumpsters closest to the circle. Hugh Marshall will collect the trees from there, as well.
Other Recycling Committee members are Leah Ingram and Caleb Lentchner.
