The Brick Township Chamber of Commerce has announced its officers and board of directors for 2010. Taking the helm as president is Peter Daniels, of Ocean Medical Center. He replaces Lorraine Griffith of the Ronan Agency, who will continue to serve on the board as immediate past president.

Jean Joseph has joined Laurelton Village Care Center, 475 Jack Martin Blvd., Brick, as an administrator. He is a licensed nursing home administrator and licensed respiratory therapist who has worked in a variety of health care settings since 1994. He is also a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Having filled many roles in a number of hospitals and nursing centers, Joseph places a great emphasis on staff morale as a key component of patient and resident care. He has also opened his door to residents and their families. His efforts are part of a wider movement in longterm care known as “culture change,” a resident-centered approach that gives more autonomy to both staff and residents. Joseph was born in the Caribbean but grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. He has degrees from New York University, St. Joseph College and Long Island University. James Stoever of Brick has been named the Alzheimer’s Respite Care Program (ACRP) Humanitarian of the Year by Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey. The honor was given at the Dec. 9 ACRP annual luncheon held at the Leisure Chateau Care Center, Lakewood. He was recognized for initiating and chairing the First Motorcycle Run and Walkathon fundraiser to benefit the ACRP program in 2009. The event raised more than $3,000 for the Alzheimer’s Respite Care Program, and was coordinated with the Knights of Columbus Motorcycle Ministry. Also honored at the luncheon was his wife, Marlene Stoever, an active Caregiver volunteer and co-chair for the Alzheimer Motorcycle Run and Walkathon.

The National Association of Occupational Health Professionals (NAOHP) recently elected Steven Crawford, M.D., medical director for Meridian Occupational Health, to their board of directors. The NAOHP, based in Santa Barbara, Calif., is a nationwide organization, which supports provider-based occupational health programs and professionals in the field to achieve the highest-quality services to the benefit of the national work force and the public health of the country. Dr. Crawford will support the advancement of the organization as a regional adviser for the U.S. Northeast.
