Colts Neck native Pat Cavanaugh has been promoted to vice president of finance and controller at the YES Network, New York. Cavanaugh, who had been controller, will continue to report to Al Gaherty, senior vice president, finance, at YES.
Cavanaugh joined YES in November 2002 as senior accountant and was promoted to controller in August 2005. In his current role, he performs the necessary financial analysis to ensure that YES makes the proper operational and financial decisions; oversees the day-to-day financial operations; and ensures that the company’s financial statements are recorded in keeping with accounting standards.
Prior to joining YES, Cavanaugh worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York as an associate and then senior associate. He is a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, and he graduated from Villanova in May 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration – management information systems.

The Monmouth-Ocean Chapter of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants is contributing $50,000 to the NJSCPA Scholarship Fund which supports the study of accounting in high school and college. A check will be presented to NJSCPA President Robert Traphagen at the chapter’s taxation seminar on Jan. 9, at the Eatontown Sheraton Hotel.
Established in the 1960s, the NJSCPA Scholarship Fund has grown to become the largest professional scholarship program in New Jersey. In 2009, the scholarship fund awarded more than $420,000 in scholarships, the highest total in the program’s history.
The mission of the fund is to attract the best and the brightest New Jersey students into the accounting profession; to encourage students from diverse fields to pursue an advanced education in accountancy; and to increase awareness about the opportunities provided by a CPA career path.
Over the course of its existence, the fund has supported more than 1,400 New Jersey students and helped to increase the number of minorities and women who enter the profession.
