Drive to the Hoop, a 3-on-3, all ages basketball tournament, will be held March 20 at Monmouth University, West Long Branch. Various age and skill divisions will be available. Each team will be guaranteed three refereed games, with winning teams moving on to the playoff rounds and finals. The event will also feature a three-point field goal shooting contest, a free throw contest, raffles, auctions, NCAA tournament games on the JumboTron and special appearances by professional athletes. Food and beverages will be available and spectators are welcome to join in the festivities. The fee to register or sponsor a team is $100. Other sponsorships are available. The tournament will benefit Prevention First and Monmouth University women’s basketball. The Monmouth County Park System announces its special $12 rate for the 2010 winter golf season at Bel-Aire Golf Course in Wall Township and Shark River Golf Course in Neptune. This special continues through March 14 and is available to all players (county residents and nonresidents). Only walk-on play is available on these courses during the winter months. Shark River will offer temporary tees and greens on its championship 18- hole golf course, Old Corlies Avenue, Neptune. At Bel-Aire’s executive nine-hole and 18- hole courses on Allaire Road in Wall Township, the regular season tees and greens will be available. Former Howell High School teammates Kyle Bukowiec and James Sullivano, now playing for Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham, were named to the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Conference Football Team Second Team.

Bukowiec, a senior, led the Devils in receiving with 61 catches for 586 yards. He caught four touchdown passes. Bukowiec led the conference in receptions per game (6.8) and was sixth in receiving yards per game (65.0).

Sullivano, a junior, anchored an offensive line that helped the Devils to come in fourth in total offense. Sullivano has been a mainstay at left tackle since midway through his freshman year. FDU-Florham went 2-8 in 2009.

Adult baseball teams and players (age 18 and over) are wanted for a fast-growing league. The individual player fee is $160. If paid in full by March 31, the team fee is $1,800. Fees include customer service, flexible master scheduling, a 20-game schedule, a large free agent player pool, seven dozen Wilson baseballs, field insurance, accidental medical insurance, AllStarTeamStats.com/aba for stats and schedules, multiple wood and metal bat skill levels, equipment discounts, umpire assigning, an all-star game, and jackets or trophies for winners.
