EDISON — The New Jersey Foundation of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities, based in Edison, recently received a $50,000 grant from The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey to support its Donated Dental Services Program.
Since the foundation was created six years ago, more than 500 grants have been awarded, totaling nearly $18 million.
“The New Jersey Foundation of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities serves a vulnerable population of disadvantaged individuals who do not have the resources to treat serious dental conditions,” said Jonathan Pearson, deputy director of The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. “The tremendous work done by the Foundation of Dentistry allows hundreds of disabled and elderly people to get dental work that allows them to live pain free and have a better quality of life.”
The Edison-based program allows for volunteer dentists and lab professionals to provide comprehensive care to aged, disabled or ill patients.
Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey created The Horizon Foundation in 2004 to “promote health, well-being and quality of life in New Jersey’s communities,” according to the foundation’s website.
