Edison Police search for man who may have approached girl

EDISON — A report of a suspicious vehicle on the south side of Edison has police searching for the driver of that vehicle.

On Jan. 18 at about 6:45 a.m., a 9-year-old girl was walking along Harrison Street near Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva. The girl’s mother was about 20 feet in front of the child.

The driver was described as possibly being Hispanic, with black collar length hair that was combed back. He was said to be wearing tan shorts and tennis sneakers at the time of the incident.

The vehicle was said to have a rear mounted tire under a black tire cover with white writing on it.

Lt. Sal Filannino said members of the Edison Police Department went to the scene at the time of the incident to start looking for the driver. He said officers are still canvassing the area looking for any other information concerning the incident.

Filannino said anyone with information regarding this matter is encouraged to call the Detective Bureau of the Edison Police Department at 732-248-7561.
