‘Fight Like a Girl’ benefits women being treated for cancer

LONG BRANCH — The second “Fight Like a Girl Against Cancer” benefit will be dedicated to women being treated for cancer, including a local mother of two who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Wendy Estrada Martinez, a Long Branch resident, will be among those celebrated in the second “Fight Like a Girl Against Cancer” benefit to be held Sunday, Jan. 31, at Maximum Fitness, 604 Second Ave. in Long Branch.

“Fight Like a Girl” is a fundraising event to benefit the Beauty Foundation for Women’s Cancer Care. The foundation is devoted to supporting women facing cancer treatment.

According to a press release, “The Beauty Foundation for Women’s Cancer Care is dedicated to honoring the beauty, supporting the courage and empowering the strength of women facing cancer and the myriad side effects of treatment.”

The foundation’s mission is to support women cancer patients through direct monetary grants to offset the economic hardships resulting from a cancer diagnosis, support of cancer care centers, and the development of educational and informational resources benefiting the health of all women.

The fundraiser is being hosted by Scott Perotti of Maximum Fitness, and the foundation.

The event will feature kickboxing, TRX suspension training and circuit training at Maximum Fitness. All are welcome and are asked to make a $25 donation to Beauty Foundation for Women’s Cancer Care.
