Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center will host 17-hour training programs for individuals interested in becoming a hospice volunteer.
Programs will be 6:30-9 p.m. Feb. 5, 12, 19 and 26; and March 5, 12 and 19 at Monmouth Medical Center, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch. A second program will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. May 14, 21 and 28 at the medical center.
U.S. veterans are encouraged to attend for participation in the center’s new volunteer program Veterans Helping Veterans.
The volunteer training program is designed to give participants an understanding of the needs of patients and families who are coping with advanced illness. Upon completion, volunteers will be connected with patients in close proximity to where they reside.
