SOMERVILLE – The Somerset Council on Alcoholism & Drug Dependency Inc. has announced a partnership with the Somerset County Office of Veterans Services to bring services, education and incentives to military families and veterans.
Veterans, active military members and their significant others are invited to join the eight-session "Bridge to Success" program taking place Feb. 16 through March 11 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. at 40 N. Bridge St.
This program will explore stress management techniques, building a positive support network, communicating effectively, avoiding destructive “coping” strategies and effectively setting personal goals.
"Bridge to Success is a great opportunity for the men and women who have served our country bravely to take time for themselves and learn new skills,” said Somerset Council Director of Operations Anthony Ferrera.
“The Board of Freeholders is very supportive of our veterans and active military personnel, and we welcome this opportunity for our Veterans Services office to partner with the Somerset Council to provide this excellent program,” said Freeholder Patricia Walsh, human services liaison.
Dinner is provided at every session and each participant also will earn shopping gift cards at the rate of $5 per session attended, plus a $10 perfect-attendance bonus. An individual attending all eight sessions will earn a gift card in the amount of $50. Transportation and childcare are available upon request.
This free program is made possible through a state grant from the New Jersey Department of Human Services in partnership with the New Jersey Prevention Network.   To register for Bridge to Success, contact Somerset Council Office Manager Wendy Bender at (908) 722-4900 or [email protected]   Space is limited to the first 15 people who respond.
