Event postponed
The Burlington County Council of the Boy Scouts of America has postponed the county Centennial Scout Rally originally slated for Feb. 6 for a date to be announced soon.
Ash Wednesday
Friday, Feb. 12 — The Burning of Palms for Ashes at St. Mary’s RC Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown, 609-298-0261, on Feb. 12. Event starts in School Hall with crafts, prayers, Ash Wednesday info, burning palms in Prayer Garden and ending with refreshments. Bring your old palms and receive ashes on Feb. 17.
Concert postponed
Saturday, Feb. 13 — Due to the disruptions that the recent snow storm caused to both rehearsal schedules and other concert-related preparations, as well as the probable disruptions posed by the upcoming storm scheduled for this Tuesday and Wednesday, the Old City Hall Restoration Project has decided to reschedule the Gershwin benefit concert from Feb. 13 to a date to be announced in late April. Anybody who has purchased tickets can get refunds from the place of purchase. For further information, please call 298-4332 or 298-6470.
Valentine’s Dinner
Sunday, Feb. 14 — Calling all members of the Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Auxiliary Unit 39. You have been invited to attend a Valentine’s Dinner in your honor on Sunday, Feb. 14, at the Post Home on Fourth Avenue, Roebling. The time is 1 p.m. for cocktails and 2 p.m. for a buffet dinner. The dinner is free to Auxiliary members and $10 for any guests. Please let Steve Anderson, 1412 Kenny’s Cove, Burlington, NJ 08016 know if you will be able to attend. Please don’t wait until the last minute and miss out on this delicious dinner that is being prepared for Auxiliary members by Post members.
Community Worship
Sunday, Feb. 21 — Methodist, Baptist and Presbyterian Congregations of Mansfield and Springfield invite you to join us for a Lenten community worship service of song. Our theme will be “From Darkness to Light.” An offering will be taken in support of the reconstruction of Haiti. Community concert
Sunday, Feb. 28 — Bordentown Community Concerts presents The Barnstormers with the RockCandy Cloggers. Traditional American folk music along with the award winning cloggers. Vera Bradley bingo
Saturday, March 6 — St. Mary’s School PTA will sponsor a Vera Bradley Bingo with doors opening at 6 p.m. and bingo starting at 7 p.m. The bingo will be held at St. Mary’s school hall, 30 Elizabeth Street in Bordentown City. All prizes are authentic Vera Bradley merchandise and range in value from $10 to several hundred dollars. The cost of entrance is $25, which includes your game boards. Extra sheets will be available at $1 per sheet. There will also be a raffle and a cash 50/50. The kitchen will be open serving hot food and beverages. All proceeds benefit St. Mary’s PTA. No one under 18 permitted. This will be strictly enforced.

Pasta dinner
Sunday, March 7 — The Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085 Veteran’s Committee is hosting an all-you-can-eat pasta dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Adults $10, children 5 to 12 $5, children under 5 free. Help support the troops and our veterans.

Tuesday, March 9 — Join us for a discussion on “Middlesex” by Jeffrey Eugenidesat 7 p.m. for the first of the 2010 books.
