Teachers’ new deal in Marlboro is shocking

Unbelievable would be putting it mildly. With the economy in recession and both the state and municipalities hurting and having to take some extreme steps in order to curtail spending, the Marlboro K-8 School District Board of Education and the Marlboro Township Education Association seem to be oblivious to what is going on in the real world.

The new contract agreed upon by the board and the teachers union includes more than 4 percent increases every year (five years totaling 21.85), no payment for health care, as well as an additional $300 payment, which is not even explained.

This truly is an affront to every taxpayer in Marlboro and borders on the scandalous in these most difficult times.
