Recently there has been a buzz surrounding the South Brunswick School District’s discussions around next year’s school calendar. At this juncture of our township’s history and demographics, it seems like there needs to be a consistent policy when it comes to observing the religious holidays. Do we give students a day off for each of these days or do we now keep the schools open and the students take an excused day off?
We all know, see and love the beautiful diversity of our town. It’s beautiful because everyone is respectful, open and honest. Essentially, relationships have been built based on trust, and that is one of the most important values to the residents of South Brunswick.
I believe you have to earn respect and trust by demonstrating your respect and trust of others, such as our school administration and Board of Education. This, in turn, is the key to open and honest communication, which will ultimately lead to a solution that will satisfy the different yet respectful communities in our township.
