Bowl for Kids’ Sake raises funds for mentoring program

EATONTOWN — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth County will hold the 28th annual “Bowl for Kids’ Sake” fundraiser March 1-7 at several Monmouth County bowling centers to raise funds to expand its one-to-one mentoring program.

“Bowl for Kids’ Sake” is the nonprofit’s major community fundraising event. Individual as well as school, community and corporate teams come together to spend time bowling, with the focus on fun, friendship, camaraderie and, most importantly, the children who benefit from Big Brothers Big Sisters services.

Sponsorship opportunities are available ranging from $250 to $5,000, and teams of five bowlers are needed who together will raise $500 in pledges to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Participants will receive a T-shirt, refreshments and a chance to win prizes in addition to bowling in celebration of their fundraising efforts.

In 2009, the event raised more than $45,000 to support the highly successful oneto one mentoring programs.

With the need for mentors urgent and widespread, the goal this year is to raise $75,000 with 100 percent of the costs underwritten so that all of the funds raised will go to help Monmouth County children who need and want a caring adult in their life.
