Public Invited to Discuss Future of Honey Lake Dam

A public scoping meeting to discuss the future of the Honey Lake Dam will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hopewell Township Municipal Building auditorium, 201 Washington Crossing – Pennington Road, Titusville, NJ.   
Honey Lake was constructed in 1964 as a desilting basin through a Stony Brook Watershed Project . It has been identified as a high hazard dam by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Dam Safety and is in need of rehabilitation to comply with current safety requirements. 
The meeting will include a presentation on the condition of the dam and lake by USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The public is invited to provide comment on the status of the Honey Lake Dam and on the alternatives for its rehabilitation or removal.
