American Heart Association collecting heart-health stories

The American Heart Association is seeking letters, pictures or drawings that depict stories of heart health. The Go Red for Women “Our Hearts. Our Choice. Speak Up to Save Lives” movement is dedicated to empowering women to learn about cardiovascular disease risk factors and manageable steps to reduce those risks.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women. Almost one woman dies every three minutes. About 455,000 women will die this year alone from cardiovascular disease, of which 14,000 will be from New Jersey.

Stories can be emailed to [email protected] or by mailing The American Heart Association, Attn: Courtney Nelson, 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691. All entries will receive a complimentary 2010 Go Red for Women cookbook if a name, address and phone number are included.
