Chapter A

The Mardi Gras was a lot of fun. Must be something in their water because they sure can whoop it up. The day started a little poorly with those gloomy showers and the bus was a little late. We hoped that didn’t portend for the remainder of the day, and it didn’t. Maybe the open bar had something to do with it, but after a fine meal the entertainment began.
The comic regaled us with stories of his family and his takes on life in general. He was very funny and we a11 laughed and he had a lot of stories to tell. If laughter is a good medicine, then we all had a good dose.
Then the band took over and played great music most of us were familiar with. The dance floor was covered with energetic dancers. The emcee asked if we had special dates we would like to celebrate — Dick indicated we had two 93-year-olds. I won’t mention names but that one 93-year-old was on the floor dancing almost all the time and I want to tell you she can shake her hips as well as those who are many years younger. We should all be so lucky, first to live that long and secondly, to be so full of life. More power to you.

FYI ladies: I renewed my digital drivers license and here’s the way it works: your current digital license counts four points, if you’re married or divorced, you’ll need your certificate to verify your name. I brought along other things to be sure I would not have to go back. If you wish, you may get another mug shot. I must admit the second one doesn’t look much better than the first. And I thought all you had to do was present money.
