Industrial/Commercial Real Estate Women Inc. (ICREW NJ) will host its ninth annual golf classic and reception May 6 at the Forsgate Country Club in Monroe. Drive to the Hoop, a 3-on-3, all ages basketball tournament, will be held March 20 at Monmouth University’s multipurpose activity center in West Long Branch. Various age and skill divisions will be available. Each team will be guaranteed three refereed games, with winning teams moving on to the playoff rounds and finals. The event will also feature a three-point shooting contest, a foul-shooting contest, raffles, auctions, NCAA tournament games on the JumboTron, entertainment by Monmouth University’s finest, and special appearances by professional athletes. Suburban Transit, which provides motorcoach commuter, casino and charter services in Mercer, Middlesex and Somerset counties, has signed a contract with the Somerset Patriots to be the exclusive provider for the Patriots through the 2012 season. The Patriots are an independent professional baseball team that is a member of the Atlantic League. They are the defending league champions and have won a record five championships. Suburban also offers transportation for Princeton University athletics and other universities such as Monmouth, Drew and Fairleigh Dickinson.
South Brunswick High School’s Brendan Vercammen is headed to Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City for the NJSIAA Individual Wrestling State Championships. The Viking finished second at 171 pounds at the Region V Tournament held on Feb. 27 at Hunterdon Central High School.
The top three finishers in each weight class qualified for the individual state tournament that begins Friday and runs through Sunday.
North Brunswick High School sprinter Laura Williams finished fifth in the 55-meter dash at the NJSIAA Indoor Track and Field Meet of Champions held Feb. 27 at the Bennett Indoor Complex in Toms River. The Raider senior clocked 7.26 in the MOC final.
