EDISON — Police arrested two township men on burglary and theft charges in connection with eight homes that were broken into in the Lincoln Park area over a seven-month period.
The suspects allegedly made off with $13,600 worth of items from the residences, police said.
Patrick McInerney, 28, and Robert Perrine, 26, were each charged Feb. 25 with eight counts of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and receiving stolen property, according to police. Bail for each suspect was set at $100,000 with no 10 percent option.
Police started investigating the Lincoln Park-area burglaries last August. The more recent burglary occurred during the third week of February, police said.
Edison Police Lt. Sal Filannino said detectives Al Engel and Nick Puccio investigated the burglaries, and a theft task force was formed to conduct surveillance in the area.
Some of the possessions were recovered, police said.
Filannino said the task force consisted of Detective Sgts. Thomas Lacik and Frank Todd, Detectives Thomas Kapscandi, Robert Duffy and Brian Mieczkowski, Traffic Patrolman Mike Perrotti, and Patrolman Lindsey Pensack.
