Seven seek seats on Jackson board

JACKSON — Seven residents are running for two available three-year terms on the Jackson School District Board of Education.

The annual school election will be held on April 20. Polls will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The terms on the board that are currently held by Sharon Dey and Linda Lackay are ending.

Dey and Lackay are seeking re-election. They are joined in the race by Gus Acevedo, Nicholas Antonoff, Jeffrey Sharp, Martin Spielman and Phil Stilton.

The board is expected to adopt a tentative budget for the 2010-11 school year on March 23 during a meeting to be held at 7:30 p.m. at Jackson Memorial High School.

A public hearing on the budget is expected to be held on March 26 at 6 p.m. at Jackson Memorial High School. Residents will have a chance to comment on the proposed spending plan at that time.

Residents will vote on the local tax levy that is proposed to support the 2010-11 budget during the April 20 election.
