Spoken word poetry reading April 18

Spoken word artists LeDerick Horne and David L. Cole Jr., aka “teertS,” will perform 2 p.m. April 18 at the South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction.

Horne, who overcame a severe learning disability to become an advocate for people with disabilities, discovered his gift for poetry while attending college in Central Jersey.

“teertS,” which is “Street” spelled backwards and is pronounced “tears,” was born and raised in New Brunswick. His first spoken word/poetry CD project “Blood, Sweat & “teertS” is a finalist in the 2010 McDonald’s Gospelfest to be aired June 19.

Admission to the poetry reading is free, though a donation of a nonperishable food item for the South Brunswick Food Pantry is encouraged.
