A caller reported the theft of a green BMX bike, valued at $50, from the CVS parking lot at 3:39 p.m. April 12. Police reported checking the area around the South Main Street store without finding the bike.
At 9:26 a.m. April 13, a North Weiss Street resident reported losing his wallet containing $80 in cash, a New Jersey driver’s license, a social security card, a Bank of America card, a credit card, a military identification card, a health insurance card and a State Farm car insurance card.
Michael Sommers, 33, of Belle Mead, was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief after a South Seventh Avenue caller reported an intoxicated male attempting to enter her home around 7:42 p.m. April 13.
According to police, the caller reported someone banging on the house’s windows in an attempt to get into the home. When officers arrived at the house, they reported seeing Mr. Sommers lying on the sidewalk outside the house and charged him after a brief investigation.
Mr. Sommers was transported to Somerset County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.
At 7:56 a.m. April 15, an Elizabeth resident reported losing a wallet and believed he lost it while at the Quick Chek on Brooks Boulevard a day earlier. The wallet contained a New Jersey driver’s license, a social security card, a credit card and an unknown amount of cash.
At 3:03 p.m. April 15, a Boesel Avenue resident reported the theft of a 32-inch Emerson flat screen television from his residence. The resident believed the theft occurred in the two weeks preceding his report and said the item was valued at $500.
Police determined there was no forced entry at the residence, and the investigation is ongoing.
At 5:38 a.m. April 16, a Kennedy Boulevard caller reported finding three slashed tires, estimated at $900 total, and scratches on the driver’s side of her vehicle, estimated at $700.
Harold William, 57, of Wyoming Place, was charged with shoplifting a cup of coffee and a cookie, valued at $3.61 total, from the Quick Chek at 11:28 a.m. April 15.
According to police, store employees observed Mr. Williams allegedly pocket a triple chocolate chunk cookie and drink a cup of coffee at the tables in the store without paying for either item and called the police.
During the investigation, a manager said Mr. Williams allegedly used a counterfeit bill to purchase items at an earlier date and produced the bill for officers. Mr. Williams has not been charged with anything related to the bill, and the incident is under investigation.
He was transported to Somerset County Jail for the shoplifting charge.
