EDISON — The Board of Education and the Township Council will hold a special meeting on Monday to discuss the defeated 2010-11 school budget.
The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the Edison Township Municipal Complex, 100 Municipal Blvd.
On April 20, voters rejected the school board’s $204.8 million spending plan in a vote of 7,366 against and 4,568 in favor. Roughly 23 percent of Edison’s registered voters cast ballots.
The budget called for an increase in the school tax rate of 15 cents per $100 of assessed valuation, which would amount to $268 annually on a home assessed at the township average of $176,400. The budget would also eliminate 131 positions in the school district.
