MARLBORO — If you remember days spent at Coney Island, playing stickball in the streets, or if you know all the best places to eat in Brooklyn, then the Memories of Brooklyn “Days Gone By” event is looking for you.
As part of the Marlboro Recreation Department’s senior programming initiative, Memories of Brooklyn “Days Gone By” will be held on May 14 at the Marlboro Recreation Community Center, Wyncrest Road. The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the cost is $12 per person.
Denise Barry, the recreation department’s senior citizen director, said the day will be filled with fond memories of the old neighborhood.
The event will include delicious memories such as a hot dog truck, pretzels, egg creams and candy from the “good old days.” A lunch of salad, rice pilaf, chicken Marsala, beef brisket, grilled vegetables and dessert is included.
Some of the attendees who are already registered will be bringing yearbooks and other memories of Brooklyn to display. There will also be games of skully, hula hoops and hopscotch to play.
“Days Gone By” will also feature songwriter Annika Vitolo who will be singing a song she wrote about Brooklyn along with a video she created about the old neighborhood.
