Grant will spread word of library’s app

MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Township Public Library has received a $3,750 grant from LibraryLinkNJ, the New Jersey Regional Library Co-operative. The grant is part of the Mobile Pilot Project, New Jersey Libraries-On-The- Go, which supports libraries’ expansion, promotion, and/or evaluation of their existing mobile services.

The goal is to increase awareness and adoption of mobile library services, in particular the Middletown Township Public Library’s new smartphone apps. The Library selected Boopsie (www.boopsie.com) as its mobile app provider in December 2011. The iOS andAndroid apps were launched May 1.

This grant will be instrumental in helping the library reach potential new users and provide cutting-edge services to library cardholders with a smartphone or tablet.

The library will be using the grant funds to create targeted online advertisements, posters at the Middletown NJTransit station, Bluetooth-enabled advertising and library signage, among other approaches.
