Crisis Ministry’s SIXTH ANNUAL FOOTPRINTS WALK SATURDAY, JUNE 5, FOCUSES ON TEAMING UP

(TRENTON)— Footprints Walk 2010: “Rebooted” will pick up the pace Saturday, June 5, as the 6th annual fundraising event for the Crisis Ministry welcomes Mercer County neighbors to walk the path out of poverty.
“We’re expanding this year’s event to encourage walkers to “team-up” with co-workers, neighbors, friends and families to raise money and awareness in our community,” said Footprints Rebooted chairwoman Terry Adams. “Our community is hurting from the economic downturn and we are confident this year the teams will reach the fundraising goal of $35,000. The money will support the hunger and homelessness prevention programs of the Crisis Ministry.”
Sign-in for the rain-or-shine event begins at 8:00 a.m. followed by the Walk at 8:30 a.m. Walkers will follow a scenic 2.3-mile stretch on the Delaware & Raritan Canal tow path that begins at the Quakerbridge Road entrance walking south to Bakers Basin Road and turning around to end back at Quakerbridge Road. There is parking at the intersection of Quakerbridge and Quaker Roads.
Walkers can register at www.thecrisisministry.org, and download a pledge form. Pre-registration is $20 and $25 on the day of the event. Participants six years or younger can walk free. All registered participants will receive a complimentary Footprints Slingback Bag when they sign-in at the event.
A non-profit, 501(c) 3 program, the Crisis Ministry is committed to health and dignity for all as it works to prevent hunger and homelessness in the community. Founded in 1980 by Princeton’s Nassau Presbyterian Church and Trinity Episcopal Church, the organization is responding to a dramatic and sustained increase in need for services brought about by the recession. The Crisis Ministry now welcomes some 1,400 individuals and families each month who seek food and/or emergency assistance for rent and security deposits, utilities, or medicine. The Crisis Ministry also provides welfare-to-work retail training through its Harvesting Hope program and, with partner Capital Health System, quarterly health screenings hosted by Trenton’s First Presbyterian Church.
