The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police and the New Jersey Police Chiefs Foundation will host the 26th annual Statewide Law Enforcement Memorial Service for police officers who died in the performance of their duties in the state of New Jersey. The service will be held 11 a.m. May 18 in the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove. The service is open to the families of the survivors, law enforcement, their families, friends and the public at large. Speakers will include Gov. Chris Christie and Attorney General Paula T. Dow.

The Monmouth University Public Relations Students Society of America Chapter (PRSSA) collected $130 and seven bags of items, including dog and cat food, treats, leashes, toys, blankets, towels, and sheets, for the Rescue Ridge Animal Shelter, a nonprofit no-kill animal rescue group based locally at the Jersey Shore. Tom Wilczewski, a Long Branch watercolor artist, won first place for his watercolor in the Anniversary Art Show and Exhibit and second place in the Ruth Crown Memorial Art Show, both sponsored by the Art Society of Monmouth County. The public is invited to an exhibit of his watercolors at the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center July 1-16. A reception is being planned. All paintings are for sale.
