Mrs. Ryan, 81, of Little Silver and Ponte Vedra, Fla., died May 7, 2010, at McGraw Hospice Center, Ponte Vedra, after a brief illness. Formerly of Middletown, she was active in St. Mary’s Parish and taught for 30 years in the Matawan Regional school district. Mrs. Ryan was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Christopher J. Ryan Jr., in 1992; and a brother, Eugene F. McEnroe. Surviving are a son, Christopher J. Ryan III and his wife, Eva, of Virginia Beach, Va.; four daughters, Mary Ellen O’Connor and her husband, Dennis, of New Canaan, Conn., Noreen Strohmenger and her husband, William, of Lewes, Del., Jane Pattwell and her husband, Marty, of Rumson, and Amy Smith and her husband, Christopher, of Little Silver; 14 grandchildren; a brother, Harry McEnroe and his wife, Peggy, of Mantoloking; a sister, Ellen Golding and her husband, Kevin, of Toms River; a sister-in-law, Patricia Mc Enroe, of Holmdel; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Visiting hours are 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. May 13 at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. May 14 at Holy Cross Church, 30 Ward Ave., Rumson.
