With the death of Mr. Fiorendo “Frank” Sigismondi, the township of Aberdeen has lost a cornerstone of the fabric that is part of the history of our community. The man that many will remember either as a police officer or as one of the owner/operators of the Sigismondi Greenhouses on Lloyd Road, passed away May 1 leaving a big hole in the history and fabric that is the township of Aberdeen.
Officer Frank was a constant presence in our community along with his large family, who likewise continue their proud and dedicated service to our community, all in their own way. Two of his sons presently serve on the same police department with both of them achieving and presently serving at the rank of sergeant. Officer Frank is also survived by an equally great community presence in his wife, another son and a daughter.
As Officer Frank got older, he was no less of a presence, except then I would see him riding on his golf cart around his property occasionally. I would stop by when I could to catch up. I will miss those little visits with the man who, during my youth, taught myself and a few of my friends a valuable and lasting lesson, with shall I say a little positive influence to the back of our heads. He straightened us out during our exuberant youth, would be the polite way to say it. I am thankful for knowing him and will remember him fondly and the impact he had on many others in his life.
