West Windsor, NJ — Through new one year grants from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (LWD), the Center for Training and Development of Mercer County Community College (MCCC) will provide training services for the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) and the State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (SHCCNJ). Mercer County’s chapter of the AACC is the Trenton African American Chamber of Commerce.
Through the new grants, businesses that are members of these groups will be able to upgrade their employees’ skills at no instructional cost. The program will focus on enhancing skills and knowledge in English as a second language, computer applications, communications, mathematics and measurements. According to CTD Director Elaine Weinberg, “We are pleased to be able to provide skills training that will enable workers to be more effective in their jobs now and in the future, especially in this rapidly changing workplace.”
John Harman, president of the AACCNJ, said “The impact of this grant to our organization, the business community, and specifically the minority business community speaks volumes that there are still resources available throughout the state which will favorably impact the economy.”
Dr. Daniel J. Jara, President and CEO of the SHCCNJ, noted that “This training is available to any New Jersey company that needs training for new employees or even upgrading the skills of current employees.”
Training will take place at both of MCCC’s locations – the James Kerney Campus in downtown Trenton at 102 North Broad Street, and the West Windsor Campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road, or at company sites.
