EAST WINDSOR: Man dies in fall at Municipal Utilities Authority site

Staff Report
EAST WINDSOR — A 56-year-old man was killed in an industrial accident at the Municipal Utilities Authority complex Thursday morning, police said.
Police identified the man only as an employee of CBI Service of New Castle, Delaware, as his family had not yet been notified of the accident Thursday afternoon.
Police said they responded to a 911 call at 10:31 a.m. reporting a worker had fallen from scaffolding at the complex on Millstone Road. The worker had been working on the interior of a new water tower that was being erected, according to a police report.
Co-workers told first-responders the man fell about 50 feet and was trapped on an upper level within the structure, police said. Emergency personnel used ladders the contractor had put in place and made their way to the man, who they found on a landing about 30 feet above ground, police said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the matter is under investigation, police said.
Myriad emergency agencies responded. Medical service responders were the Basic Life Support Ambulance and Advanced Life Support from Capital Health System and the East Windsor District 1 Rescue Squad. The fire companies that arrived at the scene were East Windsor Township Fire Districts Nos. 1 and 2 as well as Hightstown Engine Company No. 1. Other responders were township police, the Mercer County prosecutor’s office, the Mercer County Medical Examiner’s Office and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
