Risa Clay named principal of Red Bank Regional H.S.

ERIC SUCAR staff LITTLE SILVER — Red Bank Regional High School (RBR) acting Principal Risa Clay was officially appointed principal at the May 5 Board of Education meeting. She was named to the position following a threemonth search process in which three finalists were considered for the job.

Clay joined the district in 1992 as a student assistance coordinator. She wrote the grant to co-found the school-based youth service program The SOURCE in 1999 and became its director. In 2000 she was also appointed as supervisor for bilingual instruction. Under her leadership, the ESL (English as a second language) program has three times won state recognition as a model program.

She has also served as the coordinator for the federal Small Learning Communities grant and has been involved in developing the curriculum, college partnerships and implementation of the initial phases of the grant. As assistant principal and then as acting principal, she has been directly involved with the curriculum and the instruction and supervision of staff.

“I am thrilled to now be the official principal of Red Bank Regional High School,” Clay said in a press release. “As a 17-year veteran of RBR, it has been my pleasure to work with a talented team of dedicated professionals. As the principal of RBR, I am committed to continuing to meet the challenge of educating, encouraging and empowering our students.”
