The Dynamics team of Premiere Dance of Hillsborough took part in the National Dance Showcase Regional Competition May 1st and 2 in Bridgewater.
Out of 43 dances performed, the team received 19 Platinum Awards, 21 High Gold Awards, and three Gold Awards. The team was also presented with the “Backstage Award” given by the competition organizers for the sense of cooperation and camaraderie shown by team members.
The team hip-hop production dance “Bird Flew,” which included 84 members of the team, won a first-place overall award for senior lines/productions.
The senior hip-hop group “Spitfire” received a third- place overall, and was the winner of the NDS “Dance Off,” which included only five dances from the entire weekend competition. The senior group “Go Go Gadget” received a judges award for “Great Partnering,” and the junior hip-hop group “Postman” won a first-place overall for Junior Groups.
The petite lyrical group “You and Me” received a judge’s “Simply Stunning” Award. The modern specialty group “Confess” won a second-place overall, the junior lyrical specialty group “Fight Like a Girl” received second-place overall and a “Breathtaking Performance Award.” The lyrical junior trio “Note to God” received a third-place overall award. The teen jazz trio “When Doves Cry” received fifth-place overall. In Duo groups, the teen lyrical duo “Reason” received a fourth-place overall award, and the senior hip hop duo “Single” received third-place overall.
The junior solo dance “Cinderella” performed by Mia Jaderlund received a fifth- place overall, and the junior solo “You Invite Me In” performed by Paige Weber received a second- place overall.
In Senior solos, Candice Glinsky’s solo “It Doesn’t Hurt” received a judge’s “Fantastic End” award, Lauren Bonnano’s “Near to You” received a judge’s “Grace and Beauty Award” and Lea Sargiotto’s solo, “The Nicest Thing” received fourth-place overall and a judge’s award for “Truly Dancing from the Soul.”
The team is gearing up for their Annual Dance Recital in June, and for the Starbound National Dance Competition held July in Atlantic City. For the 107 dancers on the Dynamics team, this will be the culmination of weeks of practice which began in September.
According to competition director Michelle Viechec, “This season was extremely exciting. We had numerous wins and we are taking that momentum straight to nationals.”
