By Somerset County Board of Freeholders
An online guide to Somerset County historic sites that are open to the public has been revamped with updated text and new photos.
You can access this guide at www.beachcomber.com/Somerset/Public/histor.html or by clicking on the Tourism button at the top of the county’s homepage at www.co.somerset.nj.us
The historic sites listing has been reorganized by municipality and many of the descriptions have been updated. There are 28 new sites, including train stations, and 30 new photos.
Contact information – phone numbers, email addresses or websites where available – are provided for those interested in learning more or visiting any of the locations.
“This comprehensive guide to Somerset County’s rich history is a handy resource for educators, students, historians, media and the general public,” said Freeholder Patrick Scaglione, liaison to the county Cultural & Heritage Commission, which compiled the information and photos.
Any questions about the listing may be directed to Historic Sites Coordinator Thomas D’Amico, AICP/PP, at (908) 231-7021 or [email protected]
