When it comes to winning feature races, drivers have been sharing the wealth at Wall Stadium in Wall Township. In the Supreme Manufacturing Modified Division, six drivers have tasted victory.
In the points chase, two Freehold drivers, defending champion Chas Okerson and Steven Reed, are in a virtual lock for first place with two points (1,295 to 1,293) separating the two veterans. Each driver has one feature win thus far in 2010.
Matawan’s Anthony Sesely has the most wins, three, and sits in third place, 32 points behind the leaders.
Lafayette’s Roger Coss, Howell’s Nick Gargiulo and Neptune’s Tommy Farrell are the other Modified drivers to taste victory.
When the Touring Modifieds made a stop at Wall Stadium, Allentown’s Pete Brittain won both 50-lap features.
In the Street Stock Division, six drivers have won features, led by Tinton Falls’ Carl Thomas, who has taken the checkered flag three times. Thomas is locked in a duel with Bayshore, N.Y., driver Ray Minieri for first place. Minieri, who has one feature win this year, is currently on top by six points (389 to 383). Jackson’s Harry Conk is 23 points behind the leader.
Keansburg’s Jerry Stanzione, Hazlet’s Gregg Miranda, Beachwood’s Bill Vanderveen and Middletown’s Rob Hyer are the Street Stock winners thus far in 2010.
Toms River’s Charlie Kremer III and Colts Neck’s Kevin Eyres have won five of the Sportsman Division features, but this division has still had five different winners.
Kremer has three wins to Eyres’ two victories, and only two points separate these drivers (434 to 432) atop the standings.
East Brunswick’s Andrew Krause, Freehold’s Kevin Davison and Brick Township’s Robert Sutphin are the other feature winners in the Sportsman Division.
Willingboro’s Trevor Alspach has dominated the Legend Division with five wins.
Howell’s Robert French, who was a junior at Howell High School at the time he won his race, is one of four other drivers to visit victory lane. Toms River’s Derek Hopkinson, Medford’s Kevin Nowak and Newton’s Mike Alcaro are the other three drivers who have been in victory lane. Edison’s Brian Spencer is in second place in the division.
On July 3 all four divisions will be in action as Wall Stadium celebrates the Fourth of July holiday. Gates will open at 4 p.m. Racing will continue on Saturday evenings at the Route 34 speedway through Sept. 25.
