Boy Scout Troop 1776 will hold its fifth annual Silvano Zobele Blood Drive at the Neshanic Reformed Church in Hillsborough from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 18.
Silvano Zobele, who died of leukemia in June 2006, is the father of Scouts John and Thomas Zobele. Since his passing, the troop has run a summer blood drive in order to help boost the area blood supply during a period of severe shortages.
Appointments may be made by calling Judy Zobele at 908-369-5505 or emailing [email protected]. For an appointment or questions you may also contact 1-800-933-2566 or www.nybloodcenter.org. Walk-ins are also welcome, but appointments assure sufficient staff to get you in and out quickly, so please make an appointment ahead of time. Rita’s Italian Ice will be on hand for all donors.
Donors must be at least 17-years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Note that 16-year-olds may donate with parental permission. Consent forms and other information may be obtained ahead of time on the NY Blood Center website at www.nybloodcenter.org.
Young adults may also earn service hours for high school or college by donating.
