The Crosswicks Library Summer Hours will begin Monday, Aug. 2. Monday – 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 12:30 to 4:00 p.m., Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 12:30 to 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday closed. Winter hours will resume Wednesday, Sept. 1. The library will be closed Sept. 4-6 in observance of Labor Day. The Crosswicks Library has great books for the day at the beach or a day by the pool, be sure to stop at the library for all the current best sellers. For more information call 298-6271.
The Chesterfield Township Historical Society Open House will be held Sunday, Aug. 8 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Chesterfield Township Historical Society Museum on Ward Avenue. For more information visit the township website www.chesterfieldtwp.com.
The Little Dragons preschool will open in the fall. The Chesterfield Township Elementary School District will be opening a new integrated preschool this fall. This will be a half-day program that will meet five days per week for 2.5 hours per day. There will be a morning and afternoon session. Preschool days will follow the Chesterfield School Calendar for the 2010-2011 school year. To be eligible, students must be three years of age prior to entering the program, they must be toilet trained, have district-required immunization and health records. Transportation to and from the program will be the responsibility of the parents/guardians. These requirements are only for typically developing preschoolers. An individualized program for students with special needs will be developed with the Chesterfield School Child Study Team. Parents of a child with special needs, with any concerns about their child’s development, are asked to contact the school at 609-298-6900. Openings will be filled on a first come, first served basis until the classes are full. Nonresidents are welcome to apply. Once classes are full, applicants may be put on a waiting list. Tuition will be $3000 for the year, to be paid in installments. A non-refundable application fee of $25 is to be remitted with the application. The Crosswicks Friends Meeting Crafts Night will be held every Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the First Day School, located on the grounds of the Meeting House in Crosswicks. This free event is an opportunity to come together to share conversation and fellowship while working on one’s own projects (i.e. sewing, quilting, spinning, scrapbooking, etc.). The Crosswicks Monthly Meeting First Day School students are selling Meetinghouse T-shirts. The T-shirts are available at the First Day School for $15. The T-shirts are a black with a drawing of the Meetinghouse on the front. Proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts are for the First Day School community projects, which include TASK lunches. The Chesterfield Township Historical Society is looking for historical photos of Chesterfield Township. Do you have any old photo of events, old businesses, community events, farms or important people? Photos will be scanned and returned to owners. The Nature Nuts, new 4-H Club will be meeting in Chesterfield Township. The Nature Nuts are an Environmental Science Club for youth in grades 4 – 12. They will be learning about different ecosystems, wildlife, fish, birds, trees, plants, soil, insects, renewable energy, recycling and more. They will do community service projects, field trips to various nature centers, and have guest speakers. The club will meet once a month at Windswept Farm in Chesterfield Township.
