CARE Center to help adults re-enter college

A new program at Middlesex County College, the Center for Adults Returning to Education (CARE), will ease the way for those 21 years old and older as they return to school to complete their associate’s degree. They must have attended a college in New Jersey between 2000 and 2009 but not be currently enrolled, have at least 31 college credits with a 2.5 grade point average or better, and be in good academic standing.

A CARE counselor will assist them during the enrollment process, and several campus departments will offer special workshops and tutoring throughout the academic year. The application fee is waived for participants, and they will also receive a $200 voucher at the college bookstore each semester.

Middlesex is offering an information session about the program on Thursday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m. in College Center 319. To find out if you are eligible for the CARE Program, call 732-906-2509.

Prospective students who are unemployed may be eligible for funding for tuition; they should contact their local Department of Labor One-Stop for information.

The CARE Center is funded by a grant from the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education.
